Lion’s Tooth, a bookstore and art space supporting local artists and authors in the Bay View neighborhood, created the Lion’s Tooth Comics Lab, a series of three comics workshops free and open to the public that took place between February and May 2024. The “Comics Lab” invites first-time comic artists, experienced artists, and zine makers to attend its Sunday classes from 2-4:30 p.m.
The labs included a presentation and/or Q&A session with a guest cartoonist and a drawing session with music by guest DJs. Though the events were open to all ages, the project included one special workshop geared exclusively at kids. The labs were an open and inclusive space for anyone who loves to draw, and fostered a diverse, intergenerational community that brought people together through art.
