Angela Laughinghart of YMAA Tai Chi, a branch of Yang’s Martial Arts Association International, held an event for World Tai Chi & Qigong Day (April 27). Besides being healing and relaxing, Tai Chi is a creative art favoring individual expression while strengthening the mind, body, and spirit. The practice includes body movements and hand motions, all while coordinating with your breath. “One World, One Breath” is one of the themes of the event.

The event began with 8 Pieces of Brocade, which is a slow, stationary Medical Qigong exercise, then switched to 5 Animal Sports, which allowed participants to move and stimulate the movement of the Tiger, Bear, and Bird. Then, they created a circle of Taiji Ball Qigong. Lastly, there was story telling and Martial Saber demonstrations.
